After Coventry Workshop Segovia

I have never been in Segovia until last Easter Break. I went there because Isabel Carmona invite me. My family and I went there and visit a nice but not so touristic as Toledo. It is a great city to enjoy with plenty of monuments and secret stories behind, most of them told by stones.

Before leaving Barcelona I had two request one from Isabel and the other from Santi Sallés. Isabel asked me to buy plenty of different liquid watercolors from a catalan brand called Vallejo. They produce nice colors but some of them, unfortunately, fade with UV light. After wandering along some art shops I found all of them. Then, secondly, Santi asked me to bring to him a Noodlers, the Heart of Darkness or the Lexington Gray. None of the Noodlers inks are easy to find in the UK even in London so I couldn't accomplish his request.  Anyway I found three nice felt tip pens which are quite useful for drawing and they stand watercolor washes.

Segovia is quite handful and easy to go everywhere by foot. It is a city which in Easter Break is bit busy with plenty of people coming just for enjoying the old and traditional processions. Virgins and crucified Christ were strolled around. We visited places as the old Vera Cruz Church. A romanesque church which was founded by the knights templars in the 1208. What is really appealing is the 12 sides plant.

Se suposa que aquí havia d'haver-hi dos discs durs / Se supone que tendría que haber dos discos duros

Aquesta entrada se suposa que havia d'haver-se publicat la setmana passada però el 2016, només començar, m'ha ensenyat una cosa: fés backups dels teus disc durs i no confïis en el sistema RAID 1 o conegut també com discs durs emmirallats. Vigileu i no perdeu feina i records. Ara tinc dos durs en una botiga de recuperació de dades. He creuat els dits!

Esta entrada se supone que debía haberse publicado la semana pasada, però el 2016, nada más empezar, me ha enseñado una cosa: haz backups de tus discos duros y no confíes en el sistema RAID 1 o también conocido como discos duros reflejados. Vigilad y no perdáis vuestro trabajo y recuerdos. Ahora tengo dos discos duros en una tienda de recuperación de datos. ¡He cruzado los dedos!

This post was supposed to have been published last week, but 2016, at the very beginning, has taught me one thing: do backups of your hard drives and do not trust in system RAID 1 also known as mirrored hard drives. Watch and do not lose your work and memories. Now I have two hard drives in a store data recovery. Fingers crossed!

Un cop esmentat el problema dels discs durs ja podem encetar els objectius dels 2016

Dibuixar i la docència és la meva vida i després de llegir les entrades de Liz Steel i Parka un munt de coses són més clares. Estic content per ser una persona que treballa en allò que s'estima com ells. Jo estic més o menys com ells en la mateixa situació, però ells han treballat dur mantenint el bloc actualitazat, no com jo. Per això la meva promesa d'Any Nou, o una d'elles, és mantenir al dia tant com pugui el meu blog. Com Liz Steel diu la seva entrada els blocs no estan morts, però exigeixen un gran compromís i molta feina. Per últim però no menys important, i això ho prenc directament de l'entrada de Liz Steel:

"La docència és la primera manera de donar-me suport, de moment."

Per això gràcies per tenir-me present i gràcies per compartir els vostres pensaments amb mi. Espero

que totes i tots gaudiu tot allò que comparteixi amb vosaltres.

Dibujar y la docencia es mi vida y después de leer las entradas de Liz Steel y Parka un montón de cosas son más claras. Estoy feliz por ser una persona que trabaja en lo que se estima como ellos. Yo estoy más o menos como ellos en la misma situación, pero ellos han trabajado duro manteniendo el bloque actualitazat, no como yo. Por eso mi promesa de Año Nuevo, o una de ellas, es mantener al día tanto como pueda mi blog. Como Liz Steel dice su entrada los bloques no están muertos, pero exigen un gran compromiso y mucho trabajo. Por último pero no menos importante, y esto lo tomo directamente de la entrada de Liz Steel:

"La docencia es la primera forma de darme apoyo, de momento."

Drawing and teaching is my life and after reading Liz Steel and Parka's posts a lot of things are clearer. I feel happy for being a person who's working on something that I love like them. I'm more or less in the same situation, but they have really worked hard keeping a blog updated, not like me. So my New Year's resolution, or one of them, is to keep updated as much as I can my blog. As Liz Steel mentions in her post blogs are not dead, but they demand a lot of commitment and hard work. Last but not least, and I take it directly from Liz Steel's post:

"Teaching is my main way of supporting myself, at the moment."

Un dels projectes en els que estic treballant és "Pushing Your Sketching Boundaries" amb la Isabel Carmona. Aquest passat any hem organitzat tres tallers (Coventry, Òxford i Segòvia) amb gran èxit.

Aquest 2016 ja hem començat amb un altre taller que serà a Newbury amb la Inma Serrano, la Isabel Carmona i jo mateix.

Uno de los proyectos que estoy trabajando es "Pushing Your Sketching Boundaries" con Isabel Carmona. Hemos organizado tres talleres (Coventry, Óxford y Segovia) con un gran éxito.

Ahora hemos comenzado 2016 con un taller en Newbury con Inma Serrano, Isabel Carmona y yo.

One of the project I'm working on is "Pushing Your Sketching Boundaries" with Isabel Carmona. We have organized three workshops (Coventry, Oxford and Segovia) with a great success. 

Now we have started 2016 with a workshop in Newbury with Inma Serrano, Isabel Carmona and myself. 

Drawing Meeting of Urban Sketchers in Mallorca with Rolf Schröter (with blue ink)

Last october I went to a drawing meeting to a nice island and I finished an sketchbook. I called it "The Blue Sketchbook" because I have been using a blue ink that Miguel Herranz gave to me, and obviously an sketchbook with blue cover should be called "The Blue Sketchbook". Blue ink and two blue pencils has been the three most used drawing tools along its pages, so blue was the color. 

Drawing in Mallorca, one of the nicest island in the Mediterranean sea of the Balearic islands, was an adventure which became reality thanks to Catalina Rigo and Feliu Renom first of all, because they asked to the "Còmic Nostrum" organisation invite me and also to Rolf Schröter, in order to organise a drawing meeting to share our experience.

THE DAY AFTER DAY ONE.

I went with Elisabet my wife and our suitcase was just one. Just for a weekend you do not need too much things to bring with you.

Airports are a strange place, a place where sometimes you spend too much time. This is the reason when you have an sketchbook and you have the opportunity of drawing some planes, time flies and suddenly you are called to get into your flight.

From an idea which Jorge Arranz show to us in Zaragoza in 2009 in "De Vuelta con el Cuaderno" summer course I drew our short flight.

Just when we arrived we get into a nice circus tent. Rolf and us arrive at the same time and were welcome by Feliu Renom. Weather and temperature were nice. 

DAY TWO

El Barri de Sants i Can Vies

Ja fa uns anys vaig estar dibuixant el Barri de Sants i em vaig trobar amb la circunstància que unes obres no em van deixar acabar un dibuix. D'un dia per un altre no vaig poder accedir al lloc des d'on havia començat el dibuix. Així que vaig decidir deixar el dibuix tal qual.

L'edifici que vaig començar a dibuixar és el que aquests dies ha pres un protagonisme que segons qui en parli d'ell és l'exemple de com es troba la societat o la representació d'una minoria que no respecta les normes. Sigui una cosa o una altra Can Vies va començar a enderrocar-se la setmana passada i això va provocar que la gent es manifestés i que d'un enfrontament acabés una unitat mòvil de TV3 cremada i l'excavadora que havia començat l'enderrocament també.

Aquest passat dissabte vaig fer la sessió del meu taller al mercat de Sants, que havia de fer una festa d'inauguració però degut al conflicte que pateix el barri van decidir postposar-ho. Vàrem dibuixar el mercat per fora i a Can Vies van començar un acte reivindicatiu de reconstrucció de l'edifici. El barri ha patit molt l'oblit de les institucions, i potser això ha generat que com d'altres zones de Barcelona, la iniciativa veïnal i popular s'hagi enfortit. El fet és que nosaltres vàrem acabar dibuixant allà i jo vaig aprofitar per dibuixar una excavadora cremada i amb plantes florides damunt seu.

Barcelona Dibuixa comença ja! / Barcelona draws starts now!

Estic content perquè aquesta setmana comencem uns tallers a la ciutat de Barcelona volem. Comencem en la millor época de l'any (ja ho sé que farà fred, però dibuixar en grup és divertidíssim). En Miguel, Sagar i jo comencem aquesta bogeria que acabarà el proper mes de juliol amb el Simposi a Barcelona d'Urban Sketching , dibuix urbà. Qui en pot donar més? Per cert això també està en moviment. 

I'm happy because this week we start some workshops in the city of Barcelona want. We started in the best time of the year (I know it will cool, but drawing in group is funny). Miguel, Sagar and I started this madness that will end in July with the Urban Sketching Symposium in Barcelona, drawing center. Who can do better? By the way this is also moving.

Dibuixant la ciutat. La segona sessió / Dibujando la ciudad. La segunda sesión / Drawing the city. Second session

Aquesta setmana hem dibuixat al mercat de Sta. Caterina. Hem aprofitat que els venedors s'havien disfressat tots.

Esta semana hemos dibujado en el mercado de Sta. Caterina. Hemos aprovechado que los vendedores se habían disfrazado todos. 

This week we have drawn on the market of Sta. Caterina. We took advantage of the sellers were all dressed up.

Dibuixant la ciutat. La primera sessió / Dibujando la ciudad. La primera sesión / Drawing the city. First session

Dissabte passat va ser la primera sessió de la segona part de "Dibuix de la ciutat". Gent nova i gent de la primera part va començar la segona part d'aquestes sessions boges sobre l'elaboració de la ciutat o simplement "dibuixar el que veig davant meu quan estic a Barcelona". Ara Sagar i jo estem mostrant els problemes difícils de dibuixar en un quadern. Com el clima extremadament fred estava atacant a la ciutat, vam decidir anar a dibuixar l'interior de l'edifici de la Coordinadora de Gegants i Bestiari de la Ciutat Vella.

El pasado sábado fue la primera sesión de la segunda parte de "Dibujo de la ciudad". Gente nueva y gente de la primera parte empezó la segunda parte de estas sesiones locas sobre "Dibujando la ciudad" o simplemente "dibujar lo que veo delante de mí cuando estoy en Barcelona". Ahora Sagar y yo estamos mostrando los problemas difíciles de dibujar en un cuaderno. Como el clima extremadamente frío estaba atacando a la ciudad, decidimos ir a dibujar el interior del edificio de la Coordinadora de Gigantes y Bestiario de Ciutat Vella.

Last saturday was first session of the second part of "Drawing the city". New people and people from the first part started the second part of this crazy sessions about drawing the city or simply "drawing what I see in front of me when I'm in Barcelona". Now Sagar and me are showing tricky issues of drawing on a notebook. As extremely cold weather was hitting the city we decided going to draw inside the building of the Gang Coordinator Giants and Beasts of the Ciutat Vella

Com que van tancar una mica més tard de la una del mig dia vam anar a comentar els dibuixos que havien resultat de la nostra visita.

Como cerraron un poco más tarde de la una del medio día fuimos a comentar los dibujos que habían resultado de nuestra visita.

As they close a little later a middle of the day we went to discuss the drawings that had been our visit.
