Sketching gear, watercolor kit, brushes and biros

Tools are sometimes determinants as surfaces, it depends on the paper you use, you'll have a different outcome. This is why when you feel confortable with some tools you are afraid of changing them for a different ones. Nevertheless, I'm keen on changing or testing new tools, in order to get new registers or improve them. Here there are some of my basics: my watercolor kit, my brushes and my biros. Since I lived for a while in the UK I carry this watercolor kit, bought in Endinburgh, the Cotman Field Box. Originally it is assorted with 12 colours half pans ( cadmium yellow pale hue, ultramarine, yellow Ochre, cadmium yellow hue, cobalt blue hue, burnt sienna, cadmium red pale hue, sap green, burnt umber, alizarin crimson, viridian hue, chinese white), but I added three more a Talens blue phthalo, a W&N Prussian Blue and a W&N Lemon Yellow Hue.

Brushes, lately, have become my second most used tool because of my use of watercolour and my work of it. Pentel Aquabrushes are the big thing about it, as it has a water refilling cartridge or you can refill it with liquid watercolour. Wonderful!

Last but not least important the biros are essential, waterproof and a wide sort of colours. Line is the most important thing in my work and it is still a field where I have to discover more uses of it.

More about my sketching gear/ Más sobre mis equipo de dibujo

Last weeks I'm adding more information about my sketching gear and this the last acquisition. It is a useful fabric pen case for my moleskine notebooks. I saw some like this on the web and then I asked my mother-in-law if she could sew one of them.

Preparing a sketchbook/preparando un cuaderno

A weeks ago I prepared a sketchbook I'm using right now. Probably all of you know already how to do it but I'm proud of myself when things work well. Here there are some pictures about how it works. The most interesting things are that you can make any format you want and always you are drawing on rigid surface and paper does not curl.

29th and 1/2 Barcelona's Sketchcrawl

A great day! We met new sketchcrawlers, we find the usual and the place to draw, "Els Encants" was perfect. But did a tad cold.

On the way to our meeting place, as usual, I get the train to go to Barcelona. People reading, staring or just gossiping.

Inside the Encants there are many sites that can be drawn. One of them is this above, introduced by Lapin.

Just in one of the main entraces there a kind of square where people go looking for bargains. And right in the middle there is this light pole, from which hang a lot of things, cables, lights, decorative brackets, etc...

Finally the Sketchcrawl bunch finished, after dinner, next to the Encants. Just in the newest buildings, the most moderns. At the 22@ district.
