5/3 Challenge (5 days and 3drawings per days). Day two.
I was nominated for the '5 day drawing challenge' by the great artist Isabel Carmona. I will be posting 3 drawings a day along 5 days and I will nominate one person per day. This is my third day but I'm posting my drawings from the second day. I nominated Miguel Herranz. Today I nominate Teresa Giménez Pous.

Isabel Carmona challenge to myself to draw 3 sketches per day along 5 days. Today I started it is hard to do so as I used to do.
Any nou amb un bodegó andalús / Año nuevo con un bodegón andaluz /New year with an Andalusian still life
Aquest any l'he començat amb calma, reflexionant com ha anat l'anterior i amb el cap posat en tot el que tinc entre mans com cursos com el de Drawing On Location dedicat a l'urban sketching i amb ganes d'encetar nous projectes. De moment, de l'any passat, avui han publicat una ill·lustració a la revista ICON un bodegó sobre menjar andalús.
Este año lo he empezado con calma, reflexionando cómo ha ido el anterior y con la cabeza puesta en todo lo que tengo entre manos, como por ejemplo cursos como el de Drawing On Location dedicado al urban sketching y con ganas de iniciar nuevos proyectos . De momento, el año pasado, hoy han publicado una ilustración en la revista ICON un bodegón sobre comida andaluz.
This year I have started slowly, pondering how it went the past year and my mind is over all what I have in hand, as courses like the one organized with Drawing On Location devoted to urban sketching and I'm also eager to start new projects. For now, from last year, today ICON magazine has published an illustration, a still life of Andalusian food.
On the cover Ferran Adrià's new genius who has risen to the level of any artist. He is the one who has managed to put Catalonia again be at the forefront of creation. Until recently there was an exhibition dedicated to her figure and the work done in the Bulli. Right now he wants to carry forward the "Bulli Foundation".
The "mollete" with ham, eating it was the best. Evidently, drawing it afterwards was also pretty good, but the flavor of the ham ... Insuperable.
I ate "tortas de aceite" as a child at my grandmother's house, she was from Almeria and Ines Rosales were the ones she bought. I still remember the taste of anise seed, my grandmother called it "matalahúva."

A la portada Ferran Adrià el nou geni que s'ha elevat al nivell de qualsevol artista plàstic. Ell sol ha aconseguit que Catalunya torni a estar a l'avantguarda de la creació. Fins fa poc hi havia una exposició dedicada a la seva figura y la feina feta al Bulli. En aquests moments vol portar endavant la "Bulli Foundation".

El "mollete" amb pernil ibéric, el millor va ser menjar-se'l. Evidentment, després dibuixar-ho també va estar força bé, però el gust del pernil… Insuperable.

Las "tortas de aceite" les menjava de petit a casa de la meva àvia que era d'Almeria i les de d'Inés Rosales eren les que em comprava. Encara recordo el gust de les llavors d'anís, la meva àvia l'anomenava "matalahúva".

Aquí teniu la doble página del bodegó, fet en un quadern Stillman & Birn de la Beta Series. Un quadern que aguanta qualsevol tipus d'aiguada i, a més a més, no té cap mena de gra. Cosa que m'encanta.

Here is the double spread with the still life done in a notebook Stillman & Birn Beta Series. A notebook that holds any kind of watery and also does not have any type of grain. Something I love.

Aquí està el meu darrer treball publicat (tot i que no paro, ho podeu comprovar al meu Facebook). Les mans fent coses. Potser són les mans que fan coses que més m'agraden de les meves darreres feines. Ara he treballat amb referents fotogràfics que jo mateix que fet. Això et facilita molt la feina, ja que no cal fer recercar, però també implica un altre feina. Afortunadament tenia una bona model.
Here is my latest published work (although I do not stop, you can check my Facebook). The hands doing things. Maybe are the hands that do things I like the most from my latest work. Now I have worked with photographic references that I made by myself. This will work much easier, since you do not need to do research, but also imply another job. Fortunately I had a good model.
El resultat ha quedat molt coherent amb l'estètica general del llibre; colors i línea han seguit aquest aire general de sintetisme.
The result has been very consistent with the overall aesthetics of the book, line and color have followed this general air synthesism.
Aquesta feina de nou l'he fet sobre quadern. No puc deixar de banda aquest suport, m'encanta per la comoditat en molts aspectes, potser el problema més greu és el moment d'escanejar. He de dir que aquí no tinc cap mena de mirament i retoco un cop tinc les imatges digitalitzades. És una feina i la netedad no és el meu fort. Fins i tot he afegit peces de vínil vectoritzades, per augmentar la versemblança.
I've done this new work on a sketchbook. I can not left this medium, I love the comfort it gives to me in many ways, perhaps the most serious problem is the time of scanning. I must say here that I do not have any hesitation once I tweaked and scanned images. It is a job and cleaness is not my big point, as you can notice in the originals. I even added pieces of vinyl vectorised, in order to improve likelihood.

Speaking about drawing at Sant Lluc School / Hablando sobre el dibujo en la escuela de Sant Lluc
After being invited by monsieur Lapin and el señor Sagar to give a speech about how I draw and what is drawing to me, I felt a bit scared. But after being speaking for a while everything I had been thinking about the weeks before came out. I hope I was at least a help for all the people was listening to me.
After I started my speech Lapin and Sagar introduced me and the work I'm on right now.
When I finished I showed my latest drawings and I asked some doubts and questions. It was pretty interesting because they were worried about if I always work directly without making first lines with a pencil or not. And the answer is right now I work without previous lines.
Then all the people drew their notebooks and showed their sketches and drawings from the last session held at the "Palau de la Música".
Then we went to "La Ciutadella" and started drawing. I spent my time taking pictures of such great bunch. But if you want you check here for more pictures.
After I started my speech Lapin and Sagar introduced me and the work I'm on right now.

Preparing a sketchbook/preparando un cuaderno
A weeks ago I prepared a sketchbook I'm using right now. Probably all of you know already how to do it but I'm proud of myself when things work well. Here there are some pictures about how it works. The most interesting things are that you can make any format you want and always you are drawing on rigid surface and paper does not curl.
Hace unas semanas me preparé un cuaderno de bocetos que estoy usando ahora mismo. Probablemente todos ya sabéis cómo hacerlo, pero estoy orgulloso de mí mismo cuando las cosas funcionan bien. Aquí hay algunas fotos de cómo se debe hacer. Lo más interesante es que puedes hacer cualquier formato que quieras y siempre dibujas sobre una superficie rígida y el papel no se abarquilla.
